Charity's Regency Dress
Charity (age 14) cut out and sewed this dress from your Regency Era pattern. She did all the cutting and sewing on her own. The dress is fully lined, and she managed to get the placket nicely done even with that!
“So how do you do all this anyway?
You have more little ones than I do and not only do you find time to sew, but to design beautiful new patterns. Can you share a little about how you make time to do it all?
This question was recently posted to the S&S Facebook page, and it's one I get from time to time via email as well. I've posted in my FAQs about the "do-it-all" myth, but I thought it might be time to just blog about this topic, since it's near and dear to my heart. :)
Emily's Ethereal Wedding Gown
Thank you so much for your wonderful patterns! Enclosed are photographs of my wedding gown, made with the Titanic Tea Gown pattern, and my sister's Maid of Honour dress, made with the Elegant Lady's Closet Wrap Dress.
Susanne's Elegant Regency Creations
I made the cross-over gown first, then the open robe (modified from the cross-over gown bodice) and then the white drawstring gown. It was a pleasure to work with such easily understood patterns and I'll certainly be making more clothing using them in the future!
ZipZip’s Bodiced Petticoat Tutorial
One of my long-time customers and forum members has a lovely sewing blog that she fills with beautiful photos as well as helpful tips and tricks. She has been putting together a Regency Era bodiced petticoat from my instructions and posting detailed photos as she goes.
Katie's Regency Ballgowns
Katie H. from the Oregon Regency Society has two dresses from the Sense & Sensibility Regency Gown pattern. The first one is an all pale blue dress with a silk chiffon overlay and white lace trim.
Christina's Seersucker Regency Gown
I just love the femininity and comfort of the Regency gown and decided to make one this summer using a bright and breathable, seersucker fabric!
Abigail's Silk Regency Gown with Spencer
I made this silk Regency gown from Sense and Sensibility's Simplicity pattern. I think that the only adaptation I made was to raise the neckline a bit. The material is silk that a friend of mine brought from Thailand for me. I added ribbon trim on the sleeves, braid around the empire waistline, and ribbon around the hem. I made the Spencer jacket based on the same pattern, using the long sleeves, and the basic bodice pattern, adapted to be a jacket instead of a dress bodice.
Jenna's Regency Drawstring Gown
I made this gown last week from the Elegant Lady's Closet Pattern. It was fun to make and felt elegant and comfortable to wear.
Genevieve's Linen Swing Dress
Well, I finally finished the Swing dress last week. It's taken me awhile to get some photos together, since I had to lasso my Mom to be my photgrapher.
Nadja's Girl's Regency Dress
I bought the pattern for the Girl's Regency Dress a few years ago, intending to make it for my daughter. I had never sewn a dress before, but since it was labeled for a beginner, I thought I would give it a try.
Girls' Romantic Era Dresses
A few weeks ago I made youngest daughters each two dresses from Jennie Chancey's Romantic Era Girls' Dress pattern. I have made this pattern a couple times before. Sensibility patterns are very easy to follow.
Amy's lovely Regency Gown
I loved the Regency pattern when I first saw it, and I finally talked my Mom, Ann, into making one for me. I picked out this lovely pure white linen and pink embroidered trim. I felt just like a princess in it!
Charity's Regency Gown
Fortunately, when my daughter, Charity, found out that she was to take part in a violin performance on short notice, we had the Regency pattern already on hand!
Miriam's Regency Gown
I am thirteen, the oldest of six children, and I have four younger sisters. They absolutely adore my dress, and are waiting for me to make them a dress also. Here are pictures of my finished Regency Gown.
Amy's lovely drawstring Regency gown
Using your Elegant Ladies' Closet and Underthings patterns, I made this dress for our school's district-wide Pioneer Day. Pioneer Day has been going on here in Delaware Co., Ohio, for over 30 years for all the 3rd-graders. Delaware, Ohio was established as a town in 1815, bringing many East Coast pioneers to the region. Thus, the Regency Gown was a perfect match.
Amy's Beautiful Romantic Era Dress
I made this dress for a school dance last winter. I didn't decide on my fabric until just a couple days before the event. I had to work quickly to finish in time, which I did, thanks to my mom and my sister! :) I did make some short-cuts--the dress had no back closure until a couple weeks ago so my sister had to sew me into it!
Extant Regency Drawstring Gown
One of my customers purchased this extant Regency gown at auction a few years ago and sent me detailed photographs so I could study the drawstring closure and short sleeve/undersleeve combination. I didn't end up making the drawstring bodice in my Elegant Lady's Closet as gathered as this one, but I absolutely love this look.
Nikki's Theatrical Costumes
Hi Jennie,I just wanted to write to you to show you the dresses that came out of our costuming operation for the last show we worked on. My co-costumer Alyssa J. made both a dress from the Elegant
