Upcoming Regency Sewing Workshops!

The Fashionable Figure series continues in Maitland, Florida:  Build Your Regency Wardrobe!  Regency instructors Jennie Chancey and Audrey Russell return with three more workshops to help you build your Bridgerton or Jane Austen inspired wardrobe!  We began over the summer with a basic chemise and figure-flattering Regency stays.  Now continue with a custom petticoat, a chemisette for style options, and, finally, your very own Regency Lady’s Gown—all in time for the 2025 Mt. Dora Jane Austen Fest!

The Fashionable Figure:  Regency Petticoat - Sat 11/02 10:00am-4:00pm

The Regency Petticoat is the essential support under your Bridgerton or Jane Austen gown. It provides not just modesty but structure, helping to shape your gown and hold skirts away from your feet for walking. Using your measurements, Audrey will help you drape your custom petticoat with your choice of a flat or lightly gathered front, and gathered or pleated back. You’ll finish your petticoat with a waistband and shoulder straps, and optional tucks, ruffle or trim. *If you have a chemise and set of stays, please bring them for fitting.

The Fashionable Figure:  Regency Chemisette - Sat 11/30 10:00am-4:00pm

Also called a “bosom friend,” the Regency chemisette is worn like a modern-day dickie, filling in the neckline of your dress. With this simple accessory you can easily change the look of your dress, just by adding or changing your chemisette! In this hands-on workshop Audrey will guide you through making a chemisette from the Sense & Sensibility Regency Underthings pattern. You will have your choice of necklines, front closure, and ruffle styles to make your chemisette uniquely yours! *If you have a chemise and set of stays, please bring them for fitting.

The Fashionable Figure:  Regency Lady’s Gown - Fri & Sat Jan 17-18 10:00am-4:00pm (bring lunch)

In the final workshop of our series, you’ll create your very own Regency Gown… just in time for the Mt. Dora Jane Austen Fest in February! The “round gown” is a very versatile garment that can be adapted for a day dress or elegant evening gown. You’ll work hands-on with Regency expert and pattern creator Jennie Chancey to design and fit your gown, as well as instructor Audrey Russell to guide you through construction. Your workshop includes the Sense & Sensibility Elegant Lady’s Closet pattern, which contains options for additional dress styles, sleeves and accessories (not covered in class). *Regency undergarments are strongly recommended to get the correct fit and “look” for your gown. If you have a chemise, stays, and/or petticoat, please bring them for proper fitting.
