Sarah's Regency Ball Ensemble

I got my sister and myself tickets to an upcoming Regency ball. And I hadn't a clue what I was going to wear. Anything that I would choose would have to be altered (losing 30 lbs. will make your entire wardrobe not fit anymore). Now would be an excellent time to see if there was any hope for that light green damask crossover dress.

Rebecca's Regency Ensemble

This is my new Spencer, which I'm wearing with the Regency gown. The Spencer is made of a polished cotton that has a black-on-black floral print. I think it almost passes for a silk taffetta. Almost. I'm especially pleased with the way the pleated frill at the neckline and cuffs turned out. Whenever I watch period dramas, it always seems to me that it's the little individualistic details that make the best costumes stand out, and I'm determined to be as inventive as I can in my own projects.

Hannah's Jane Austen Ensemble

A few weeks ago I attended the Jane Austen Festival in Canberra, Australia. Some of the dresses were specifically made for the event, but I had a few dresses already as my sisters, a few friends and I regularly have Jane Austen Days in which we dress up, watch a movie, eat Regency food, etc.

Cecilia's "Spencerino"

Dear Jennie, On this pictures I do wear again my ELC gown, but this time with a little addition: “Spencerino” (Italian for little spencer) as my friend called it. I based this jacket on your ELC pattern. This alteration is very easy and I made a little tutorial about it, please feel free to use

Regency Spencer Jacket/Pelisse Pattern

I created this pattern by pulling research together from several sources (along with customer requests!). I studied a Spencer jacket in the D.A.R. Museum collection and one at the Valentine. I also drew from Janet Arnold’s wonderful Patterns of Fashion to create a versatile pattern for short jackets, long coats, and sleeveless pelisses or short gowns.

Abigail's Silk Regency Gown with Spencer

I made this silk Regency gown from Sense and Sensibility's Simplicity pattern. I think that the only adaptation I made was to raise the neckline a bit. The material is silk that a friend of mine brought from Thailand for me. I added ribbon trim on the sleeves, braid around the empire waistline, and ribbon around the hem. I made the Spencer jacket based on the same pattern, using the long sleeves, and the basic bodice pattern, adapted to be a jacket instead of a dress bodice.

Olivia's Regency Dress & Spencer

I am sending you pictures of Olivia in her new Regency outfit. I made the dress from a Swiss dot cotton, but it’s not a fine Swiss. The bodiced petticoat is made from cotton batiste and the Spencer is made from a lovely cotton velvet, navy in colour. It was fun dressing her up in this outfit.

Aurora's Regency Spencer Jacket

I made this Spencer out of a brown velvet fabric that I had lying around and that had belonged to my grandmother before, at least so we believe. I always knew I wanted to make some kind of jacket out of it, and when I found Mrs. Chancey’s Regency Spencer Jacket pattern on here I […]

Lily's Embroidered Spencer Jacket

I just used your pattern to make my first Spencer! I was very pleased with the pattern, and here are pictures. The cloth was an old Laura Ashely duvet cover that had stains. I cut the pieces so the white embroidery on the cloth became part of the design of the jacket. I just […]

Heidi's Regency Spencer Jacket

I was digging through my scrap bins awhile back trying to use some things up so I could regain a couple of drawers! I came across some burgandy wool (leftover from a cape) and matching silk (leftover from a summer dress) so I decided to make a new Spencer jacket. I found these buttons in
