Eva in her exquisite reproduction, on board the Queen Mary.I made this reproduction of Rose's tea gown for the 100th anniversary of Titanic. It was quite the adventure finding all the right laces... seven different types in total. I found large appliques to create the long points with, about 30 in total. I had to trim them to the right shape and back them each with tulle, so they had the correct weight and movement in the wind. I am such a perfectionist, they had to match the way they flutter in the movie when Rose turns around. I also made a version of Rose's "long line" Edwardian corset to wear underneath the gown, to acheive the correct silhouette.Eva in the Promenade Deck.On April 14 2012, we spent the day on the beautiful Queen Mary, which is permanently docked in Long Beach, CA. Now a hotel, it greatly resembles Titanic, and was the perfect place to spend such a historic day. After spending the afternoon walking the deck and taking pictures, our group sat down at Sir Winston's restaurant, and had a very elegant five course dinner. After dinner we joined other Titanic enthusiasts for a lovely ceremony at one of the life boats. It was a day I will never forget! I also wore my gown the the Titanic Artifact Exhibition in Las Vegas, and had my picture taken on the reproduction staircase there. Now onward to my version of the jump dress...Eva at the railing..Eva waves from the railing with two fellow "passengers" on the Queen Mary.Eva on deck. Love the color combination on this dress!Eva with her Rose doll in matching dress.Another view, showing all those amazing layers of lace. This is absolutely stunning, and Eva did it right: she started with the proper foundation (a longline corset) and built the dress to fit over it. As a result, the silhouette is simply perfect. And that lace! Wow. Utterly beautiful. Thanks for sharing your work, Eva!
