Regency Stays Workshop July 25-27!

Audrey Russell and I have been hard at work and are happy to announce that we will be giving not one, but THREE presentations in Orlando in July!  The main event will be a two-day, hands-on workshop to fit and sew your own Regency stays.  We will also be reprising our presentation, "The Fashionable Figure:  Secrets of the Regency Modiste" (with more models and garments!), on the evening before the workshop.  Finally, there will be a half-day "pre-workshop" on sewing your own Regency chemise, one week prior to the main event, conducted by Audrey.  Descriptions and registration links for all three are below.  Due to space limitations, we will only be able to take 12 students for the stays workshop and 8 for the chemise, so be sure to register as soon as possible!  Supply lists will be available at the registration link.

Hope to see you in July!

How does the Modiste so skillfully craft the drape of a gown to flatter the individual figure?  Perhaps, Gentle Reader, it is not the fashion but the figure itself which the Modiste transforms!  Those crucial elements of fashion hidden from public view may make the difference in whether your gown displays you to the greatest advantage.  In this presentation Regency Modiste Jennie Chancey, creator of Sense & Sensibility Patterns, will reveal the secrets of the fashionable figure, so that whether you are taking a refreshing turn about the room or promenading before admiring suitors of the ton, you may carry off the latest fashions to greatest effect!

Your Bridgerton or Jane Austen look starts here!  In this two-day, hands-on workshop, you will create your own set of “short stays”, the Regency version of a corset.  You will be personally fitted by Regency expert Jennie Chancey of Sense & Sensibility Patterns, and guided through construction by Jennie and experienced corset-making instructor Audrey Russell.  Your workshop includes the Sense & Sensibility Regency Underthings Pattern.  This workshop is best suited to intermediate sewists, but adventurous beginners are welcome.  *The Regency Chemise workshop is recommended but optional.

The Fashionable Figure:  Regency Chemise

The Regency Chemise is the essential foundation layer for your Bridgerton or Jane Austen outfit—but it also makes comfy sleepwear!  In this half-day workshop, you will be guided through the trickier parts of assembling a Regency Chemise.  You’ll learn how to insert gussets for freedom of movement, how to flat-fell seams for a neat finish, and how to make a drawstring casing.  This class is best suited to intermediate students, but adventurous beginners are welcome (most students will finish at home).  *If you are also taking the Regency Stays workshop, your pattern will be provided.  Otherwise, the Regency Underthings e-pattern can be purchased in my online shop, or please contact Audrey (sewing@audments.com) if you prefer a printed copy.
