So glad the new board is up! I was “White Harvest” on the old board. I decided to change my username to my blog name for this board.

I am a stay at home mom with three little boys and one new baby girl. I homeschool my little guys and in my spare time (which is growing less and less) ;) I like to research and sew historic clothing.

My family and I reenact the American Civil War era and we have made brief forays into the medieval era (14th century, SCA), regency/federal era, 1780’s, 1830’s and 1850’s. I like almost every era of fashion except, perhaps, the bustle era (still haven’t made anything from the 1870’s-1900’s-ish period).

I am slightly obsessed with historic fashion. I discovered S&S patterns when I was 15 (11 years ago now!) and made my first regency dress with the original S&S regency pattern. I still have that dress! It’s been thrilling to see each new beautiful pattern S&S has put out and I’m beyond excited about the new 1950’s dress pattern. This board has been so informative for me and I’ve learned so much in this great community over the years. I’m excited to see where this new board goes as everyone here continues to inspire, educate and encourage each other in this fantastic hobby of historic sewing.

I can’t see where I start a new thread, so I’ll piggyback onto Sarah’s!

Hi! I’m Jodie, formerly JodieR on the old board.

I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember, and I discovered Sense & Sensibility patterns a good many years ago when my cousin and I were wanting to make Regency Gowns. I also adore the Beatrix skirt and have made quite a few of those.

This year I am participating in the Jane Austen Festival Australia’s costume challenge, where we commit to making one item per month (or every second month) for our Regency wardrobe. So I hope to have lots of things to share!
