I needed a warm coat for a War of 1812 reenacting event in February. I've had this white wool plush coating in my stash for about 15 years, so I decided it would be perfect for a pelisse. This is made from the Regency Spencer pattern. I used the skirt pattern from the Regency Gown pattern to make the pelisse skirt as suggested in the instructions. I cut the pattern to meet in the middle and added about an inch so it would overlap a small amount. I eliminated the collar and used a hood from a cloak pattern. The trim is wool braid, and the buttons are reproductions of late 18th-century French buttons. The pelisse is lined with silk dupioni, and it is extremely warm. I used metal hooks and thread loops for the closure. Because the coating was so thick, I ended up hand sewing this garment, as it was difficult to manage the large gathers and pleats with the machine. ~ Vicki E.

This looks so incredibly warm and cozy, Vicki! You are truly dedicated to have worked with that heavy material all by hand. Beautiful job! You look amazing, and I love the idea of adding a hood pattern to the pelisse. Genius for warmth!
