Heather's Regency Drawstring Gown

Easter-2012-1.jpg

I really enjoyed making this drawstring dress! I've been wanting to make the drawstring dress for a long time, but I couldn't seem to find the time to make it. Then, my husband very graciously looked after my little ones for two days in a row while I worked on the dress! It was finished just in time for me to wear Easter Morning! The dress works really wonderfully for my pregnancy and I'm also looking forward to wearing it to nurse in after the baby is born. Our new little baby is due at the very end of May. I am wearing period correct chemise and short stays, which I find to be very helpful for my back especially since I'm expecting! The fit of the period correct undergarments go a long way for me to make this dress turn out beautifully! I made no change in the pattern except to raise the neckline in the pattern to use the size 26 neckline in the front instead of my size 20, which I used for the rest of the neck; and I raised the back neckline. I think I need to work on the back neckline just a bit, because I made it too wide at the top. I really love the way the bodice is fitted with the curved back pieces and the fitted shape of the 3/4 length sleeves. Very elegant.~ Heather B.

This is absolutely darling, Heather--you and your girls are just a picture!
