Reproduction Regency Portrait Gown

Back when I used to sew professionally, I often received requests to reproduce gowns seen in portraits or fashion plates. This is a gown I made in 2001, savoring every moment of this delectable project! My customer asked me to copy the gown and the chemisette with standing "ruff" collar seen in the Regency portrait at left. She sent me a  box loaded with the most delicious crimson silk velvet, gold cord, and stiff organdy for the collar/chemisette. The gown I made from my original Regency Gown Pattern. The chemisette with standing collar I made up on my own from the portrait. Below you see the results.

In this photo, you can see that the neckline edge of the ruffled collar is bound in the silk velvet and trimmed with gold cord to match the portrait.
