I’ve had the privilege of encouraging many young women to learn pattern drafting and start up their own businesses, creating beautiful patterns of their own. A young friend of mine has just launched her new business, Edelweiss Patterns, and she’s produced a lovely “Liesl” dress pattern perfect for stage productions, dancewear, and more. Katrina sent me a review copy, and I immediately asked if I could host a giveaway!

So here’s how to enter to win a copy of this beautiful pattern: Blog, tweet, or Facebook about Edelweiss, then pop back over here to leave a comment with a link to your post. If you don’t blog or tweet, feel free to email friends about Edelweiss patterns (you can also mention this giveaway), and CC contact (AT) sensibility.com for your entry. I will draw one winner through Random.org on Friday, January 7.

BONUS: If you purchase a copy of this new pattern and mention that you found out about it on sensibility.com, Katrina will enter you in a drawing for a lovely Regency fashion print purchased in England! That drawing will take place on the 14th of January, so be sure to mention sensibility.com if you place an order for your chance to win!

  1. What a pretty dress!

We may look into this pattern:).

This fall we read one of Maria Von Trapp’s books as a family(excellent!) and also had the privilege of hearing the Von Trapp children on stage. Having the clothing to go along with the story would be lots of fun.

  2. I posted on Facebook! I love Maria von Trapp’s books and the movie, so it’s wonderful that there’s finally a pattern out for Liesl’s dress

  3. I am e-mailing a couple of friends about your pattern and giveaway. It is a beautiful dress and I have 2 daughters that would love to have a dress made for them.

  4. I don’t use social networking and won’t spam my friends, but can a S&S gift certificate be used to buy this pattern? Probably not, but doesn’t hurt to ask.

  5. I e-mailed friends and family. What a pretty design and worthy business. If I make this dress, I will keep it nice and not gad about in the rain with it as some people do . . .

  6. I emailed all the young ladies in my sewing class about the website and dress. I have always admired Lesli’s dress in the sound of music.

    Thank you!!!

  7. Hello Mrs. Chancey!
I really like this pattern! I’ve used several of your patterns before, and this one also looks beautiful. I emailed it to a few of my friends–I’d love to make this dress sometime!

  8. I emailed my friends about this beautiful dress and pattern company. If I don’t win the give away, I will most likely be buying this pattern soon because I have danced along with Liesl and Rolf during the gazebo scene ever since I was 5, but I was missing the dress. Now my younger sisters do the dame thing when they watch the movie but they still need dresses!

  9. I would love to enter for the dress. My daughter emailed her friends about the lovely website and the liesl dress. Thank you!

  10. I emailed some seamstresses I know… what a gorgeous pattern! So much fun, even though I am seventeen going on eighteen. 🙂

  11. I know my sisters and a friend applied for this and we did it wrong. we forgot to CC you on the emails we sent to our family and friends.

Hopefully we got it all worked out b/c they should have resent their emails today 🙂 Sorry for the confusion.

  12. I would love to win the pattern to the gorgeous dress. It has such a beautiful feminine feeling about it with the full skirt and the butterfly sleeves!

  13. I want to thank all of you ladies for the lovely comments and posts! I’m glad to hear that other seamstresses have admired Liesl’s dress just as I have!

I particularly want to thank Jennie for so graciously offering to host this giveaway, and for her incredibly kind comments about the pattern! I had the privilege of meeting her on the 2009 S&S costume tour, and I highly recommend it to all costume-lovers!

I would love to hear from you all, and would be happy to add anyone to my e-newsletter who wishes to receive it.

    Happy sewing, and thanks again!
