Lesson One: Making Your Master Pattern and Purchasing Materials
- In the first lesson, you will learn how to customize your pattern for a perfect fit. You'll also learn about the fabrics and colors of the 1940s as you seek appropriate material to use for your own dress.
Lesson Two: Cutting Out the Dress, Making the Bodice and Checking the Fit
- You'll learn helpful hints for cutting out fabrics, including vintage techniques for using plaids and obvious directionals. You'll also create your bodice (and a toile for a try-on if you want to double-check your fit).
Lesson Three: Skirt, Zipper, Sleeves, and Hem.
- In this lesson, you'll learn about appropriate seam finishes and vintage techniques for setting smooth sleeves in place. You'll also learn a period trick for hiding a standard zipper (though you are welcome to use an invisible zipper as well). Finally, you'll learn how to hem the circular edge of your skirt.
Lesson Four: Getting that 1940s Look
- In the last lesson, you'll enjoy lots of vintage pictures and photos of ladies in full color. This will help you in your make-up selection if you want to go for the total 1940's look. You'll also see vintage hat, shoe, and glove styles Best of all, you'll get a list of online resources for real vintage accessories. Finally, you'll have tips and tricks for 1940s-style hair (including diagrams and instructions for two classic styles). Fun!
