Hello Jennie,
Love your pics from the Fashion Museum at Bath, and I had the same complaint. Impossible to photograph — sometimes to see — the gorgeous details. when I was there the lights were out over Victoria’s mourning gown so it was just a black rectangle. Sigh. It was wonderful, though, to be stopped at the end of my visit for a short guest survey. Never mind that I am a museum professional in the States… or that historical clothing is something I am very interested in… I requested to please fix the lighting… Someday I will return and it will be perfect. I just know it…

Wow, Mary! What a treat to have you stop by! I truly loved your book and have recommended it widely. What a fascinating woman Bess was! Your book truly illuminates her time period and helps the reader understand why she functioned the way she did (and many of the obstacles she faced). Brava!

P.S. – I also loved your biography of Beryl Markham, and I have a lifelong love of aviation myself. My late father (Jeffrey L. Ethell) was an aviation historian and a pilot and flew nearly every type of aircraft in existence by the time he was 49. He wrote 59 books and over 2,000 magazine articles. Best of all, he taught me to fly in a WWII-era PT23–open cockpit with a map strapped to my knee. Pure joy!

Hi, Dawn! Once I get all the photos downloaded from my camera card, I’ll email you those. I took pictures of all the information cards as well, so I’m hoping they turned out okay. Just got my crashed laptop working again, so give me a few days to get things downloaded and sorted.

Jennie, I love the floral pelisse with the brown piping. Would you be able to switch out for a larger photo when you get home? Do have any more information on the beautiful garments you’ve posted in this entry. I’d love the year on that pelisse! Beautiful! It looks like you’ve had yet another wonderful tour!
