Hi everyone! I’m a third year law school student in Canada. I just got a sewing machine in the fall, but already I’m addicted and I’ve made several small projects. I’m interested in making both modern clothing and historical garments, although sadly I don’t really have anywhere to wear the historical ones! I’m looking forward to learning more about sewing and fashion history as I’m currently a beginner in both subjects.

Welcome, Laura! I’m glad you’ve joined the forum! We all have a lot of fun sharing sewing projects here, and many of us are historical sewing nuts that also don’t have lots of occasions that call for costumes. My theory is that if enough of us keep sewing and wearing historical or vintage clothing, eventually it will catch on!
I look forward to seeing your projects!

Welcome! And, I have to agree with Katrina… that’s basically my unsaid theory too.
It's delightful when your imaginations come true, isn't it?

Hee hee! I like that theory. I tend to wear slightly modernized pieces of old-fashioned clothing because I don’t like to stand out.

Welcome Laura! There are a few Canadians here on the forum. What province are you from? I’m from Ontario – the Niagara area.
