Hello all. My mom and I shared the name Kelly on the old forum. Then it just took a while to re-join for this one. :)

Was only a newbie on that one as well, but have enjoyed reading the posts and learning new things for a while.

Mom has sewn for over 40 years. And she taught me how when I was around 8yrs. But I’ve only gotten into the swing of things during the past 5 years. We bought lots of the Sensibility patterns, and have made the Beatrix skirt and the Edwardian apron. Looking forward to making the 1910′s Tea Gown and the 1909 Edwardian Dress.

I’ve also been drafting patterns for 1915-6 skirts, and have made petticoats and skirts like in the old magazines.

Mom and I are looking forward to being back.

Tina

Welcome, Tina!  Like your mom, I have been sewing for over 40 years.  I taught my daughter to sew at a young age, but until she began to make Renaissance-era costumes she was not a very enthusiastic seamstress.  Now she makes all sorts of steampunk, pirate, and fantasy costumes.  It’s very rewarding to see your daughter enjoy your hobby, and I love her creativity.

I hope you and your mom both have lots of fun!

Hi, Kelly!

I’m glad you’ve joined this new forum!  I have to say that of all the S&S patterns I’ve used, the Titanic Tea Gown is probably my favorite.  Definitely make it a priority on your sewing list. :)   (My second favorite pattern is the 1958 Party Dress pattern, but they’re all really marvelous of course.)  :)

Happy sewing!

Katrina

Yep, sometimes all it takes is finding something you want to sew – and then do it.
