My name is Krista, and I’m excited to be on this new board and see all these introductory posts start pouring in! It’s so nice to get re-acquainted with everyone.
My username on the former board was Tansy, and I kept it the same to avoid confusion for myself:). I’m a wife and mother of 3 and I’ve been sewing for a pretty long time. I was first introduced to Sense and Sensibility in 2002, and over the next few years obtained most of the patterns and learned a wealth of information in the process. I’ve been on this board since 2003.
I took the Regency gown class (after trying to make the dress on my own and running into obstacles) and that really helped me understand the pattern better. I’ve sewn a few of the Kimono dress patterns for my daughters–that’s probably one of our favorites–and we have enjoyed the doll dresses pattern over the years. The Beatrix skirt pattern is one of my personal favorites as well.
I’m a “social” seamstress and crafter, which interpreted means if I have someone else to do it with, it motivates me to stretch myself and try new things and it also helps me to finish things! Since it’s been many years since I’ve had a face-to-face sewing “friend”, the S & S board has provided many virtual “friends” for me to help me stay in the sewing loop.
I’ve done some historical sewing–I really enjoy the Colonial (Georgian) era and Edwardian era. I also enjoy sewing mostly clothing items and copying our favorite ready-to-wear pieces, and my newest venture is bags. Each project I do I try to learn or try something new in it.
Thank you, Jennie, and moderators, for making this a wonderful place to come and learn:)
