It's been a long time since I've been on this forum, and I am happy to be back again!  I began my clothing sewing adventures in the year 2000.  I used to read and study the sensibility website while I was nursing my little girl, who is now 12!  I have enjoyed making dresses from the regency pattern.  I have seven children, five of whom are girls and I would like to sew more for them.  I am interested in learning how to go from a drawing to a dress, and even if I don't acquire that skill, I would love for my girls to learn.  Additionally, I am interested in meeting some seamstresses that could sew for me and my family.  While I dearly love much of womens' clothing from Elizabeth I to 1960, my present interest is in creating a personal style that is modern, though classic and simple.

Glad to have you!  I'm the opposite, lots of children who are mostly boys!  I do enjoy sewing for my few girls, though; and now that I have 2 granddaughters, and another on the way, I hope to sew for them too!

Welcome!  You will love this forum, and it sounds like your sewing interests are really wonderful.  While I don't sew many modern clothes for myself, I do share your goal of making lovely clothes for every-day wear that isn't the typical off-the-rack styles.  Look forward to seeing some of your projects!

Happy sewing!

Welcome! I hope you'll find lots of inspiration here on crafting a new modern wardrobe for yourself and your family – it's a challenging endeavor to say the least! I'm embarking on that myself, having just gotten done with a season of college, then a season of student teaching, and now in a season of limbo – living at home, looking at living in my own house with a husband soon (!!) and then still teaching – balancing those wardrobe needs is hard!
