OfflineHello! I am a 15 year old girl from Oklahoma, living in Hokkaido, Japan. That's the top island, next to Southern Siberia.
(Side note, we average 24 feet of snow per year…it's great fun!
)
My favorite subject has always been History, and I always have loved old-fashioned clothing. I'm not an avid sewer yet, but an avid "designer"!
I'm hoping to get into sewing more in the future however.
My favorite things are: Books, writing, acting, horses, and music. I'm always full of ideas and dreams…and I look forward to accomplishing some of them.
I am the oldest of 5 other siblings (1 sister and 4 younger brothers) but I hope we get more soon.
My favorite costume time period is Mediaeval, the Civil War, (1860's), late Victorian and Edwardian (1880's-1910's). I like anything western and prairie!
I would like to learn more about historical clothing, and I always enjoy seeing every one else's projects in the show and tell!
Nice meeting you!

OfflineI'm glad you're here on the board! This is a really fun group of ladies, and I'm sure you will enjoy being part of the "community"!
Here's a warm welcome from the Pacific Northwest, where we don't even average 24 centimeters of snow a year. ![]()
Happy sewing!

OfflineThank you for your kind responses! I was happy to read them.
We have snowplows that come nearly every day, and we shovel constantly.
Our roads are snow-packed, and we have walls of snow on each side.
I'm here with my whole family, (8 total including my parents) a dog and a rabbit.
Thanks again for letting me introduce myself.

Offlineummm. What is a quinzee?
Kathryn, you must be in a warmer part of Canada.
Here is the definition from Wiki: Quinzee There is also a picture there for you.
A quinzhee or quinzee (pron.: /ˈkwɪnziː/) is a shelter made by hollowing out a pile of settled snow. This is in contrast to an igloo, which is made from blocks of hard snow. The word is of Athabaskan origin.
