Hello everyone- my name is Kristin and I live just outside of Madison, Wisconsin. When I was very young, I found my grandmother’s 1894 Delineator Magazine, and I have been fascinated with historic fashion ever since. I went to college for Dance and Theatre, and spent a fair amount of time in the costume shop, where my costume prof taught me how to sew. I owe him so much. During that time, I had excellent opportunities to study actual historic garments, and continue that focus of study with actual garments, and with internet resources (isn’t Pinterest fun?). I cannot say that I have one single favorite era- it is too difficult to narrow it to one, and I have too many favorite eras to list here. My projects for the year 2014 include a Regency era day gown/jacket combination, a Titanic era boarding suit and hat, a Titanic era evening gown, and the restoration of a 1920’s flapper gown.
I’m curious to learn more about the projects everybody else is taking on during 2014. I find that reading about other projects, research, fabric choices, design dilemmas, etc, is very motivating! So, please feel free to share your projects!

I’ve had the opportunity to handle, clean, examine, and help archive garments from the 1880s to 1920s. Such a wonderful experience!
Good luck with your projects.
Welcome! Sounds like you’ve had a lot of fun with historical fashion already. You have a lot of exciting projects planned for the year. Be sure to share photos along the way!
