Hello. I’m Dawn Luckham. I’ve been a long-time member of the Sense and Sensibility board. I’m a historical costumer. I’m a seamstress and milliner, but I love the research aspect of costuming the best. While I’ve made garments for many time periods, I focus primarily on the period from 1790-1820.

I’ve always enjoyed the friendly companionship of the participants on the Sense and Sensibility board. I look forward to making friends (both old and new) all over again.

As I can’t seem to start a new post I will have to do it as a reply to yours Dawn. Sorry. ;)

Hi I’m ladydetemps (aka sarah). I was on the old sense and sensibility forum. I love historical, vintage and retro fashion. And am currently making a regency ballgown using a modified version of the S&S regency dress pattern.

I also enjoy folk music and anything I can lindy hop to.

I guess the way t make intros is to reply to others.

Jane is my middle name not fond of my first name of Lisa and most people call me Jane anyway, mommy of a couple girls, married to my long-time sweetheart who is a daddy smitten with our girls.  I’ve been historical costuming for a long long time.

This new board isn’t easy to figure out.

Sorry about the confusion! We had to move to a much more secure forum software with greater restrictions to keep out spammers. All initial posts are held in moderation so we can weed out the baddies. Thanks for your patience!

Warmly,
Jennie

Hi All,

I am Nancy, from Tacoma, WA. I’ve been on the old S&S forum since 2010. I work at a Living History Museum and have been interested in historic costuming since I began there 17 yrs ago. I went on the 2010 tour and 2012 tour and loved it!

I hope everyone will get back on this forum, as I’ve learned a lot from all of the folks on it!

Hello!  I guess I’ll be waiting on moderation as well!  Good to see you all again.  I’ve missed the interaction and the historical education!

Dawn, I hope you don’t mind me posting on your thread, but I don’t seem to be able to do anything else on the new forum, I can’t even read the admin announcements to get started!

I’m Lygeia, an avid member of the old forum. I’d classify myself as an intermediate beginner and have made two simple regency dresses and a set of undergarments from the S&S patterns. I got into historical sewing more or less by accident when I met Dawn at a War of 1812 reenactment.

Other projects I’ve tackled are a mid 1550s Italian dress and a few cute 1950s style dresses! Forum members were a big help to me in reproducing a dress I fell in love with but couldn’t afford, so I’d love to share photos of that if I ever get the ability to post. The next project I am toying with is a nice Victorian outfit, probably the 1870s to early 1880s.

It is so nice to see lots of familiar names and meet new people too. Hopefully I’ll eventually be able to actually read and use this new forum, I’ve missed everyone.
