Hello everyone!

I’ve been a member for a few months, but have just realized I needed to introduce myself properly. smileI haven’t done much sewing in my life, but I’m young yet (early 20s). I thrill over historical costumes and am making my first—a Regency gown. While I probably won’t do enough sewing to become anywhere near proficient, I enjoy doing what I can. I love to write and I’m a huge fan of Jane Austen and British literature in general. I’m a martial artist.smile

It’s so nice to meet all of you!

Kelsey

Hi Kelsey!

Everyone, Kelsey is a friend of ours.  She writes with my daughter, was in 4H archery with us, etc.   I am thrilled to be in an advisory capacity for her as she makes her regency gown.  So far, she’s off to a great start!

Hello, allow me to introduce myself.  I’m Becky.  I’ve loved Jane Austen since I read my first Austen novel in 1991.  I like to knit, and I muse over all of the Jane Austen Knits magazines.  I’ve been working on some lace socks, and realized all of my knit items would look best worn with a Regency dress.  My interest in Regency clothing, and historical ladies underpinnings is one that no one else in my life seems to share.

Any extinct past-times seems alluring to me.  Last summer I boiled a pudding in muslin, and tinkered with dutch oven cooking in a 125 year old cast iron spider. I need to put together a complete outfit before Death Comes to Pemberly arrives on my PBS station this winter.

I’m a homemaker, wife, puppy mama to two aged shelter dogs. My user name is Churlygirl on Ravelry, too.

Thanks for the welcome.  My sense and sensibilty pattern arrived today!  It is for the underpinnings.  My stays will be made with this 1830s repro fabric on the outside layer:

I have a dotted cotton muslin for my chemise, which I will try to make first.

But I am getting ahead of myself, and venturing out of the self-introduction sphere.  Still, it is a happy day when your pattern arrives.  Colored and polka dotted underpinnings were not so common, I think, but if I plan things carefully, I should have fabric lef

t over for fichus or chimesettes. Plus the only one who will see it is my husband, and I want to look alluring as well as historical kiss

Thank you for the welcome, everyone! And hello to everyone back!

Ms. Geneece has been sooo helpful. I absolutely love the fabric I’m working with. It’s a light sage green cotton with an all-over pattern of darker green roses and faint white leaves. smile
