I apologize for the confusion as we've launched this new board. Let me explain how the forum works so that long-time users can jump back in where they left off and new users can get acquainted!

1. "Guests" are casual visitors who happen upon sensibility.com and stop by the message forum for a look. They are only allowed to see the list of boards in the forum (not what's posted in them), cannot view member profiles or emails, cannot use the private messaging system, and are only allowed to post an introduction after registering, which makes them…
2. …ALMOST "New Members!" Posts by newbies are held in moderation until approved by a moderator. Once a newbie's first post has been approved, the introduction will appear in the "Introduce Yourself" board where others can reply/comment/etc. Newbies still cannot view member profiles or do anything other than view a list of topics in other boards. They cannot post anywhere other than in the Intro board (so replying to comments is encouraged there, newbies!) After five moderator-approved posts, the newly registered guest reaches "New Member" status, which opens up the other boards for reading and replying (with a few hurdles to leap, like a simple math test prior to posting to make extra sure she's not a spammer after all!). After 25 posts, she becomes…
3. …a "Junior Member!" This level of membership allows access to all the boards in the forum (reading and replying), but there are still a few limitations in place, including the math test and restrictions on how much of another member's profile she can view.
4. Senior Members have posted more than 100 times or have been "upgraded" to this status due to their long-time membership on the original forum. They have full access to all the boards, can use the private messaging system, don't have to pass the "math test" for new posts, and can pretty much do all the fun things they could do on the old forum.

Hi there! Yep, newbies aren't allowed to upload profile avatars or any other media. This is to keep yucky spammers from posting junk. If you are an old-timer from the other board, please let me know what your username was over there, and I'll promote you to a higher rank on this board!

Nope. All newbies can immediately post an intro, but the first five posts are held in moderation until an admin can read and approve. This is the only way to keep out the spammers who take the time to sign up only to post trash.

Vesna, I'm here to help! I just appreciate patience while we all get used to the new forum. The board has its own user ranks that it applies after a certain number of posts (and after five approved initial posts), but I can also automatically promote someone to Junior or Senior status once I have their old forum name/email address. I will not promote anyone without that information, as we don't want sneaky spammers trying to wriggle into the board posing as old-timers (believe me, these people will try that!).

Yep, I upgraded you to Senior Member status (although the board will still show you as a New Member AND a Senior Member at the same time. Sorry it's confusing, but once you pass 100 posts, the forum software will award you the Senior rank, too.
