Hello, everyone!

We finally managed to get this new fully-integrated forum up and running, and we hope it will be an answer to the problem of dedicated human spammers who seem to have nothing better to do than post garbage on sewing boards!

This new forum contains several levels of membership and significant hurdles that newcomers must leap over in order to be granted full membership. If you are an old-timer coming in from the old board, you will need to register for a sensibility.com account (something you can do by simply posting a comment on any of the pattern or blog posts on this site). You are welcome to use the same name you had on the old forum (it will sure help the mods keep us all straight!).

Once you have registered, please drop me a line through the Contact Form, providing your new username so I can set your status correctly in the back end. If I don't know you, you will come in at a "newbie" level that will restrict your access to only a couple of the boards on the forum. If you're an old-timer, we will "promote" you to Senior Member right off the bat.

If you are, indeed, brand new, then we invite you to browse the open boards and read. You will be able to post only in the "Introduce Yourself" board, and those posts will be held until you've passed the moderation test. This is not because we don't like newcomers, but because we have to have a way to control the spammers. If you're a spammer, you're not welcome here, and you're not going to get full access to the boards…ever. It's just that simple. We will be cross-checking ISPs from known spamming locations, and we'll be watching your activity to determine if you are a genuine sewing/historical fashion enthusiast or just someone out to post trashy links. 

Please go to the "Introduce Yourself" board first to post a little about yourself, what you're interested in, and what you hope to gain by being a member of the forum. Once a mod has approved your post, you'll see it show up in the board.

Thanks for your patience while we all become accustomed to this new system. Before we know it, it'll be old hat, and we'll all be back to posting about our favorite topics again. You'll see all the old boards have been reproduced here, though they contain no posts…yet! The ** you don't have permission to see this link ** will remain online as a read-only archive, so if you have some conversations you need to refer to, they are still there.

Please bear with us as we get off the ground here, since it will take a while to identify and "upgrade" old members to give them full access to the forum. Until then, just hang out in the Intro board and let us all get acclimated to the new software.

For quick answers to questions on specific patterns, it's always best just to post a comment on that pattern's page on the site. The forum is best for longer discussions, sharing projects, photos, etc. We moved to this more restricted software to keep out the floods of spam that forced the old forum to close. It's more work up front to become a regular member, but it's worth it to keep out the baddies.
