Jennie, upthread, I mentioned about the ‘editing’ of a thread being timed out.  Is this a planned thing or is this a ‘glitch’ in the system?  Before the upgrade, we could come back and edit to add or change something to our posts and/or title of posting.  Just want to know if we have to make posts for new information, rather than inserting it into an already established post.

Thanks,

Carol

Hi, Carol!

Others are editing their posts just fine, so I think it must be your connection timing out.

Anyone else having this difficulty?

Cheers,

Jennie

I found, that for me, I cannot edit a post once it has been replied to.

I’m testing this now to see if the ‘edit’ feature goes away in my previous post by making this reply.

Edited to add that it did indeed go away after I made the reply.  Not sure if that is everyone, or just me.

Jennie, when I come to the forum, there is the icon/tools for being able to edit the title of the thread, I just now figured out how to do that.  However, when I click on the thread to get to the body of the posting, that tool icon is gone, after a period of time, when I come back to it.  It’s there for awhile, but then it’s gone.  So if I want to come back, immediately, I can edit, but if I come back much later in the day or following day, I cannot edit.

I’ll sign off this post and see what happens when I attempt go get back to this, immediately.

Carol

editing:  OK, when I come right back to edit, I can do that. There is the icon in the upper right, near the quote icon for editing as well as to the left of my picture there is the ‘tool’ icon, which will allow me to edit.  I’ll come back later and see if it allows me to do it again, but I suspect it does not, meaning it times out after a period of time.

Second editing:  It’s now 8:09 and my first posting was at 6:44…..let’s see how long this lasts. :)

Actually, this is a setting on the board software. You can only edit a post until someone replies to it. After that, the edit feature goes away. We had problems on the old board with people editing conversations long after they had happened, making it look like others were responding to things that didn’t exist, etc.

Hope this makes sense!

Warmly,

Jennie

Now that makes sense!  I figured it had to time out, I just couldn’t find a consistent ‘time’ for it to happen. :)

You can, though, edit the title, before entering the thread.  You can hover the mouse over on the left, on the forum front page where the title of the thread is, and when you see the tool icon, you can edit the title, but I don’t think you can add to the post.

Hi Jennie,

I realize this thread is one year old, but I wasn’t sure where to put my questions/comments.  I am experiencing problems with the board.  Is there an update to software being done right now?  The “Community” link at the top of the pages, including the front page of the site, is not functioning.  I always use that feature to get here to the message forum as well as the archived forum.  I snuck in the back door for this time, but that will only last so long.  The “message” link was highlighted green last night and this morning and now that’s gone.  I received a message that I don’t think was meant to be private, but showed up kind of?  Hard to explain.

Also, I have been having difficulty seeing the whole posting box for putting in messages.  I can see only one line’s worth of space to type.  Once I get to ‘preview’ of the post, I can see the whole of the post and try to make changes at that time.  I am using Chrome if that’s helpful at all.

Hi, Carol,

It’s happening to Janel as well on Chrome…and just since the last update. What browser are you using? I’m going to check with the tech guys to see what is going on. Very frustrating!

Warmly,

Jennie
