Hi, Tina! I have instructions for going up to a D or larger cup in my Romantic Era Dress instructions. The same principles apply in taking a B to a C/D, but you won't need as much length. If you're making a tailored blouse or something with a more fitted bodice, you'll also want to see about adding a horizontal dart from the underarm area to bust. Hope this helps!

Hello! This tutorial is great and makes total sense! I have one quick question, however.

I'm a full busted lady (my cup measurement is a C/D). Moat patterns are drafted with a B cup in m ind. Is there any way, when grading a pattern up a size, to also include a FBA?

Hi, Bobbi B! That does actually work, but (believe it or not!), you can also create the "flying" dress from my 1910s Tea Gown pattern. All you do is lengthen the sleeves to the wrist, then add the lapels and a short skirt layer out of the bodice velvet to mimic the lower edge of the bodice (the seam at the waist is hidden by the sash. The skirt only needs two layers -- one skirt (no split overskirt) and lining. A friend of mine did this for the Titanic 100 in Missouri, and it looked stunning! Have fun sewing!

I have never commented here before, but I love the site! I am planning on making the "Flying Dress".I have had some difficulty in securing the pattern from Simplicity,so here is a comment or suggestion that I would like to offer.(I will be trying it, myself!)The outfit, dress, looks like it is immatating a skirt, jacket and top.SO,I think: why not reverse the order and create it out of a skirt, jacket and top patterns!? Some alterations will be needed, of course, but I think that it would be alot easier to get in and out of, also, and probably more comfortable.IT will be three seperate pieces. I do wish that people dressed up more, now.We are way too casual as a society! My opinion.

I bought the blue/white dress for my teenaged daughter as an early birthday gift. She accessorized with a belt and ballet flats and adores it! Favorite dress ever! Now she can't wait for other retro patterns to be released (I can't either)! Thanks to the ladies for their great work!!!

Hi, Issy! Sorry for the confusion. The seam allowance is noted on the bottom of the yardage chart. It's 5/8" except where noted. So just use the 3/8" seams where indicated on the pattern pieces. Thanks!

Hi, I am in the process of making a spencer using your pattern, but I am a bit confused over seam allowances. Is it a 5/8" seam except when you mention 3/8" seam? or is it all meant to be made using a 3/8" seam?

Thank you,
Issy
