Virginia's Bodiced Petticoat
By Jennie Chancey
I made this out of a beautiful fine weave cotton lawn and actually lined the skirt because I am going to be making a pretty gauzy dress over it, encouraged by your suggestion/mention of this common fashion of the period, which I have always loved when done in period films. I also have plans for another sheer gown and love your crossover idea. There is a Jane Austen tea at a local tea shop next month. If my friend and I get our dresses done in time I will send you photos of that.
I can’t tell you enough how much I have enjoyed your patterns. I think the Regency may quickly become my favorite era for costuming due in large part because I have a pattern that actually fits me.
Thank you again,
Virginia H.
Virginia used my online instructions to create her petticoat from my Regency Gown Pattern. This is a wonderful way to give the correct silhouette of the period as well as create an underdress for a sheer gown. Beautiful work!
