Hello Jennie!

First of all, thank you so much for creating such beautiful patterns! I am a 19 year-old, self-taught seamstress, and I have made two dresses from your Simplicity Regency pattern (I am hoping to upload some pictures of those dresses in the future), and I recently finished creating this dress from your Romantic era pattern. I am one of the biggest fans of Wives and Daughters that there is and was so thrilled when I discovered you had made a pattern for the dresses!! I have always been an “old-fashioned/conservative” girl and it has always been my desire to create dresses modeled after the elegant fashions of the past. Thanks to you, I am now living my dream! I chose to make my own version of Molly’s jumper dress. After many hilarious mistakes, the dress finally became a wearable reality. I love it! It turned out beautifully, and I adore the fact that it is so comfortable. I already have material to make another dress from this pattern, and I can’t wait to get started! Thank you for all of your hard work! Your patterns are a dream come true for me!

Blessings,
Morgan D.

Wonderful work, Morgan! You did a splendid job with the tailoring and choices of fabric and trimming. This is just lovely — and it looks like you’re enjoying wearing it, too!

  2. I love the jumper. It is very beautiful, and I like the way you trimmed it.

Did you also make the blouse? Is it from the romantic pattern? If so, what did you do to change the collar, or is it another option on the pattern? Just wondering…. The blouse is beautiful, too, and I love the pearl buttons. Perfect!

    • Thank you! I actually did not make the blouse. It was a blouse that I actually purchased in Cambodia while I was there on a mission trip.

    • Thank you for your compliments! You may be surprised at what you are capable of when it comes to sewing. I never thought I would be able to sew the things I wanted to, but one day I decided to learn, and it was totally worth it!

  3. Thank you so much Tiffany! I love to hear of girls who love movies/books like “Wives and Daughters”. Have you ever made any dresses from Mrs Chancey’s patterns?

  4. Just beautiful and so nice to see a lovely young girl well dressed and not looking like an orange coloured tramp, like we see so much of nowadays! Well done, you are a delight to behold.

  5. I just wanted to say to Morgan that I can completely relate. I’ve always been an old-fashioned/ conservative girl myself. I love period clothing and have done my best to do lots of research on the patterns I get. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing! Looks lovely. I post most of my own pictures on facebook but I’d love to see more of your own.

  6. Thank you Katie! Would you like to be friends on Facebook? If you want to you should be able to find me by searching for Morgan Dawn Diekema. I would love to see some of your dresses.

  7. Thank you DollyMae! I really wish girls these days would wear more decent feminine clothing. It is a shame that more don’t. Thank you for your compliments!
