Miriam’s Regency Gown

By Jennie Chancey

Hello Mrs. Chancey,

I am thirteen, the oldest of six children, and I have four younger sisters. They absolutely adore my dress, and are waiting for me to make them a dress also. Here are pictures of my finished dress. It is made from your Simplicity pattern. I got the idea for the scarf from the “Sense and Sensibility” movies’ costumes (I haven’t seen the movie yet but, found pictures on the internet). Do you like it? I am planning on wearing it to my piano concert this Tuesday.

Thank you so much for offering young girls like myself modest, and feminine patterns!

Blessings!
Miriam

Absolutely beautiful work, Miriam! I am so impressed at your skill, and I think you look so elegant with your violin. Thank you for sharing!

Really pretty! I really like the overskirt. I see why your sisters can’t wait for you to make them dresses. :)

Miriam you do absolutely beautiful sewing! Although the front of the dress is very nice I really love the back and the way the fabric is gathered like a short train.
    Keep up the good work!
    Love, Nancy

Miriam, An excellent piece of your handiwork. You have so inspired us “Moore” ladies to get back to our sewing machine.

      Hi Rachel!
      Thanks for your comment!
I won’t make you a dress but, would be delighted to teach you how to make one.
Ask your Mom if we can get together and do some sewing.
