Lexi’s 1780s Polonaise

By Jennie Chancey

Hello Mrs Chancey!

My name is Lexi and I am 19. I started sewing from your Regency dress patterns when I was 17, and have continued to enjoy them! I just love your new 1780′s pattern! It was the one thing I wanted for Christmas, and I was so happy to have my Mother order it from Vision Forum.

This “polonaise” gown was a little bit of a challenge for me, but I had so much fun! I used home-decor fabric, and I like how it turned out. I made it a size bigger because I do not have transitionally stays. My regency stays work pretty well for it though. The hat completed the look really well. This was a blast to make and I had a great time. How clever to hook loops in the back to puff out the overskirt.

Thank you so much!

Super job, Lexi! Modifying this gown to fit without the period stays is a trick, but you managed it!
