Lea-anne’s “Picnic at Pemberley” Outfit
By Jennie Chancey
I was attending a “Picnic at Pemberley” event at the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology, Qld Australia, so I particularly wanted a dress with the proper period styling. I made my dress in a bit of a hurry and didn’t do a trial fitting first, so the neckline is somewhat higher than I would like, and the sleeves gathered a bit low, but I am very pleased with my first result. I had no problems with drafting the pattern or sewing. The biggest problem seems to be finding a suitable fabric. Only sorry I didn’t have time to make the proper stays, but I am already planning my next dress. Thanks so much for the convenience of buying patterns online.

What fun, Lea-anne! You did a great job, especially while in a hurry! I recommend Reproduction Fabrics for beautiful period-appropriate prints from this era. Have fun with your next project!

closet. You seem to be having fun with your dress and that was the goal. So keep sewing and do more show and tell.
