Embroidered Silk Regency Gown

As a beginning sewer I was a little intimidated about making a dress all by myself, but was thrilled with the idea of creating something that I could wear. My friend and I had been toying with the idea of making dresses for ourselves, and our Confirmation day seemed the perfect time to display our work. The first of many mistakes I made was choosing the worst kind of fabric for a new sewer to use. Filmy and silky, it slid out from under my needle every step of the way. Jennie was a great help to consult with on how-to's and troubleshooting. Although a trial, I have lived through all the sweat and tears and now I'm pleased that it was such great learning experience (I now know how to do french seams!) and it is a pleasure to wear now that I've finished it. Thanks so much for the lesson and the memories! ~ Michele F's daughter

Another beginner stuns the world with her sewing prowess! This is really a remarkable dress, and it was well worth the trials with the tricky fabric!
