Angela's Regency Ballgown

front.jpg

Last year, my friend and I went to the Pittsburgh JASNA Jane Austen Festival. I already had a day dress (bought online years ago), but wanted an evening dress, as the festival was having a ball. A seamstress friend of mine adapted the Elegant Lady's Closet pattern (crossover dress, I think) so the bodice resembled a bodice I had found on a museum dress of the Regency period. I sewed ribbon rosettes to add to the sleeves and hem, and also added the ribbon at the waist. I've lost some weight since these pictures, so I will have to have her take it in, and probably shorten the hem for dancing, for the 2012 AGM this fall! Oh, the fabric was some satin I found on sale for something like $2.50 a yard! ~ Angela

This is beautiful, Angela! Thanks so much for sharing. :)
