Pearl Harbor Pillbox Hat ePattern

For a necessary crowning touch to your 1940s costume, stitch the Pearl Harbor Pillbox and wear it for instant, authentic Swing Era style! The pillbox can be made in an hour or less and features a cute ridged brim for detail and to hold its shape. There are so many ways to trim it! Make it as shown, or study your 1940s photos for inspiration. Vintage buttons, floursack fabric bows, ostrich feathers, netting, embroidery…the options for different looks are endless. Plus, since you can get two pillboxes out of one skein of worsted weight wool yarn, it’s ever so economical (especially compared to vintage hat prices)! Fun to wear to church or just shopping, too. Simple instructions include details for shaping to get the best results. Skill level: easy. Designed by Kristen Stoltzfus exclusively for Sense & Sensibility customers.

Note for European and Australian customers: Some crocheting terms are different from the US. Thanks to customer Antonia L, who shared a great link to translate terms from American to British (also used in AUS): šŸ™‚

That it too cute! Pillbox hats are one of my all-time favorite vintage hat styles, and the crochet element adds a charming homespun feel to it. How adorable!
