Named after the brave ship which came to the Titanic‘s rescue 100 years ago, these “Carpathia Earrings” are so elegant for formal occasions with your Titanic or Edwardian Era costumes. In an Art Nouveau style lace filigree design that takes only a few minutes to stitch in black thread, with a pearl drop bead and a very few easily found jewelry findings, these earrings are a wonderful addition to many types of costumes and make a perfect gift or quick accessory.
Dainty and lightweight, each earring measures 7/8″ by 2″ and swings freely because of the unique design. Work a few short rows, then work a single round, which forms the edging and the loops for beads and earring wires at the same time. Starch and pin them in shape, and, when dry, sew on the beads and add the earring wires. Shown in black and white as inspiration for your White Star Line dinner or evening costumes, these would also be wonderful in white or ivory for a wedding or summer event, or in any combo of other colors of thread and beads to capture your preferred look or mood. Skill level: upper intermediate. Designed by Kristen Stoltzfus just for Sense & Sensibility customers.
